Professional development is super important in any practice and Reiki is often seen as a catalyst for further spiritual development. Over the years it has taken me along many branches of a tree to learn and explore other modalities. It's fascinating how those little branches overlap and intertwine with reiki and every part of my learning has been significant and added another small piece to a larger jigsaw puzzle.
I became certified in Animal Reiki and Aura Cleansing Therapy and and I went on to complete the Professional Reiki Practitioner Course in 2022 (18 months study) to become verified by the reiki council. Some of other areas have included exploring the different modalities of Mediumship, Trance Mediumship, Trance Healing, Spirit Clearing and changing the way I read Tarot to use it as a therapeutic tool.
As I continue with my development in Spirit Release and Soul Rescue, to gain a better understanding in what happens on the approach to death and why some souls choose not to cross the threshold, I started my study in Soul Midwifery (end of life holistic and spiritual support) and finished this last year. As I never do 'things by halves', I then progressed through to complete a mentorship consisting of case studies and then this weekend, I completed the Soul Midwives TLC trainers course (affiliated with the Soul Midwives School) so that I will be able to deliver this to staff in nursing homes, care homes, hospices, hospitals, GP surgeries and to families and carers in the community who need support when looking after a loved one at the end of life. Having a background in teaching and a tutor’s qualification will stand in good stead but most importantly, all of these aspects of healing intertwine with reiki as a core foundation for me.
The journey of the soul is truly fascinating, from the moment of conception, living, dying and after death. Through my wonderful clients as my teachers, I have learnt how difficult experiences have shaped and impacted their lives and how past life traumas and pacts can affect us. This sparked my interest in how some spiritual influences can cause further problems.
The scientists opinion of the psyche and consciousness understandably differs from that of a spiritual therapist. Historically, psychologists previously explored the ‘spiritual self’ for issues such as psychosis, schizophrenia and other similar mental illnesses whereas in our modern day, diagnosis are based upon science. While we cannot link all mental health related illnesses to a spiritual issue or even a spiritual influence, I think it is important to remember that we are made up of mind, body and spirit.
My further development this year involved me completing a wonderful spirit release and soul centred healing diploma with Therapist Dr David Furlong BA (Hons), which has given me a greater understanding of the psyche, inner healing and spirit clearing. David, who has an MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology and a PhD in Transpersonal Counselling, has worked for decades in this area and his knowledge through working with his own clients has presented me with more parts of the puzzle which have remained unanswered until now. My studies will continue with David for the remainder of this year and into 2026.
For those of you who might be interested, this will cover a deeper understanding into the healing of the soul through trauma and spiritual influences which can attach to the psyche when a traumatic experience occurs or when a past life issue is carried forward therefore becoming very complex.
This type of 'spirit release' or 'releasing the spirit' requires working in an interactive therapeutic session with the client where ‘no size fits all’. Mediumship skills are beneficial to parts of this therapy which has brought me to my next step in working with hypnosis so in the Autumn, I will start my Clinical Hypnosis training with Lisa Morgan (Chair of the Hypnotherapy Guild). This will give me a solid grounding in the principles and techniques of hypnosis practice to extend my therapeutic skills to hypnotic approaches for specific issues and regression to work with past lives, progression and future lives. Watch this space!
We all love a bit of sparkle and for any of my crystal loving clients, starting in September I will be retaking a Crystal Healing Diploma Course to offer this as an additional treatment so keep an eye out for a post in the Autumn where I will be looking for case study candidates.
I forgot to mention that earlier this year I also qualified in Indian Head Massage which I found really wasn't for me as I much prefer to work spiritually however, no learning ever goes to waste so I have integrated it into end of life support rather than offering it as a massage treatment.
So there we have it. When we read that reiki can be life changing, it really can!
After writing this, considering that I work full-time in a day job, I am not sure when I have time to sleep! What I do know is that the universe has a vast amount of energy to offer us so when people ask me if I ever get tired when giving treatments, the answer is no, quite the opposite really.
