NEGATIVE ENERGY

The Spiritual Body

I wanted to share my understanding from working with energy through using Reiki and Aura Cleansing Therapy to explain what some people describe as negative energy.

Negative energy is different to the term when a person states that they are feeling negative within the self.

First I’d like to explain that energy is neutral in its form, neither positive or negative. How we manipulate it or perceive it through our thought pattern or intention is how it is determined.

I am referring to this in a spiritual sense rather than a scientific explanation.

To be compliant, I have to state that the idea of auras and vibrational energy fields is a metaphysical belief and is not a medically recognised phenomenon.

We are all made up of energy and biological processes involve energy transfer and chemical reactions.

Each day we come into contact with other people’s energy as our auric fields blend.

If we are an empathetic person, we can sometimes take on the worries of others and we begin to feel exhausted. We can feel as if we are carrying the world upon our shoulders and our energy feels depleted.

When a client complains of feeling a heaviness, I encourage them to ‘release what they no longer need’. Our consciousness accumulates all of our life experiences, good and bad and when we feel that we are on a roller coaster of bad luck, our energy can feel zapped and we feel that heaviness. This residue of heavy emotions, pain and past trauma in your energy body, keeps you from functioning at an optimal level.

Examples of this could quite simply be a student who has endured stress through study or a nurse who is the emotional support for others.

It is important to stress that it is not a practitioner's role to diagnose.

People come to see me because they think that they can feel another energy is attached to them. Just to be clear that this is not a recognised condition in medical science and is therefore not supported by scientific evidence.

One of my clients was previously advised by another reiki practitioner that they had removed an entity from them. When I asked how the session was conducted, the client responded: 'the practitioner said they pulled it off me and threw it into the corner of the room.’

Not only does this in-still unnecessary fear for the client but it then sends that person home in a fearful state and with this on their mind.

The mind is a powerful tool and we can innocently invite what we fear. This was not only irresponsible of the practitioner but also highlights one who works with an ego and I doubt that their findings were accurate.

Some clients worry when nightmares or dreams occur involving entities and sometimes there is a much simpler answer in that they have accumulated so much burden that they have now become aware of a feeling of heaviness. It is also possible that the client has subconsciously manifested the idea that they have something bad attached through their own curiosity or fear.

What we experience in the physical has a metaphysical effect and within it contains a blueprint of our experiences.

Contrary to the page title, I prefer not to use the words ‘negative energy’ with clients as this phrase alone can create fear and in our modern society, those who are open to their spiritual journey believe that the universe, being the big boomerang that it is, gives us back whatever we put out there.  In other words, attracting ‘like for like’.

We all have negative thoughts but when we allow negativity to become the dominant  emotion, it can manifest into our cellular tissue.

I will use an analogy which I call the ‘poor me’ syndrome.

This is when a person thrives on telling others about ‘poor me’ and complains about all of the bad things and misfortunes which are happening to them. ‘Why does this always happen to me’? ‘Why do I always have bad luck’?

We have all experienced a spate of bad luck or where a series of events have not gone in our favour but the typical ‘poor me’ has become stuck in this mindset so they perceive everything in life as being negative and sadly, these are the people who are most vulnerable and can use this as a way to seek attention.

While I agree that sometimes, a person can start to feel ‘negative’ in their day-to-day life from being fed up with their mundane routine, this is normal human behaviour and can be overcome by using the natural process of making positive changes through actions

We exist in a world of light and dark, good and bad, Yin and Yang and looking at this subject with a wider perspective, we feel brighter when we experience balance and harmony in our lives.

Energy can also be felt in a room.

Think of the expression 'You could cut the atmosphere with a knife'.

Have you ever walked into a room and recognised that the atmosphere felt heavy or you could detect that an argument had occurred?

Can you see how the energy was manipulated and changed through harsh words?

Sometimes, both us and our homes just need a little bit of a spiritual spring clean.

I work with an unconditional approach of compassion and positive intention and hold no judgement towards any person who walks through the door.

When you book a treatment with a practitioner, do your research and choose your practitioner wisely.

Ask yourself if you would feel comfortable and confident being present with them if you are going through a difficult time in your life..

Most importantly, your energy is sacred so protect it.
